Mzuzu adopts a hybrid business model that layers direct customer engagement with online shopping both in person and digitally. We call it social ecommerce. The idea is constantly activation of customers and lowering inertia associated with cybersecurity fear, quality issues and trust issues.
We are inviting partners to take MzuzuShopper offering to all towns in KwaZulu-Natal and subsequently to the rest of South Africa. Mzuzu Business Partners are local business people that represent the interests of MzuzuShopper for a mutual payoff.
The following configuration of the partnership is envisaged:
Local Representation of MzuzuShopper
Partners will represent MzuzuShopper in the designated area ensuring brand awareness, customer service and competitiveness. They will advance the strategic posture that seeks to intercept the customer before going to the shop whether physical or digital as outmined by Mzuzu Digital.
Brand Awareness and Customer Acquisition
Selected partners will drive MzuzuShopper brand awareness, marketing and sales in their areas. This will include brand activation activities, marketing campaigns and direct sales to customers. Partners will all actively promote the MzuzuShopper brand and its offering in social media platforms, as well as recruit and manage affiliates in collaboration with our marketing department.
Manage Last Mile Deliveries and Returns
Receiving deliveries for customer collection and/or deliveries to their workplace/home addresses. Managing product returns in line with Mzuzu returns policy.
Stakeholder Management
Representing MzuzuShopper in engagements with stakeholders as may be required from time to time. This may include liaison with local suppliers including community shop providers, ensuring safety of products and Mzuzu staff and sourcing and managing delivery products during peak seasons.
Local Customer Service
Proactively communicate with customers and attend to issues and concerns relating to MzuzuShopper service ensuring that customers are happy with the outcomes.
Focus Areas for 2022/2023
MzuzuShopper is currently selling and delivering groceries in Durban and the surroundings (+/- 25 km) and delivering non-grocery items to the rest of South Africa. We are looking to have a footprint in the following areas by end of 2022 beginning of 2023 to support all our offerings:
• Pietermaritzburg
• Richards Bay/Empangeni
• Port Shepstone/Margate
• Ixopo/Umzimkhulu
• Harding
• Kokstad
• Ladysmith
• Newcastle
We are looking for one partner for each of these areas and we will choose partners based on their strengths including business experience, resources, reach and motivation.

MzuzuShopper is about everything home shopping and delivery with bulk month-end grocery delivery one of our focus areas. We think of grocery delivery as convenience that should be available to all people but appreciate the limitations posed by some challenges in some areas making delivery an impractical and/or risky undertaking. In response to the challenges we have chosen to focus on workplace deliveries to schools, hospitals, clinics, police stations, offices, etc.

Workplace Deliveries
We delivery to workplaces predominantly focusing on schools in the Durban and surrounding areas. We encourage group buying such that there's just one delivery to the area but will do multiple deliveries based on customer requirements.

Events/Functions Deliveries
We deliver bulk groceries for events/functions to all areas within 50km radius from Durban. We also consider special requests for events/functions deliveries outside the prescribed radius.
Delivery to other KZN towns
We are working on having delivery partners in the Southern, Northern and Midlands parts of Kwa-Zulu Natal including Ladysmith, Newcastle and Vryheid.
Delivery Fees
Our delivery fees are comprises of the base fee of R50 charged for every delivery + R7.50 per km for every kilometre beyond the 10 km radius from Durban Central.
Group orders from the same workplace in Durban pay one delivery fee divided equally across the orders.
